went Edinburgh over the wkend.. it was a reli loooonng train ride.. 5.5 hrs from tonbridge!! entertained myself by eating once every hr.. haha.. time passes much faster that way!
beautiful scenery en-route to Edinburgh..feels like New Zealand actually.. green fields tt stretch on forever.. the blue sea & clear skies.. complete with woolly sheeps!! =)

snow covered fields..

it happened to be St Andrew's Day.. so it was FREE admission to the Edinburgh Castle & Holyrood Palace! woohoo =) people people everywhere..
anyway, it was freezing!! -2deg celcius even with the sun. we were so wrapped up we looked like penguins =P
Edinburgh Castle..

panoramic view of the interior..

view of Edinburgh city from the Castle (built on top of a hill)

St Giles Cathedral..

Scott Monument

Arthur's Seat.. i wanted to climb it.. but it was too cold!! so yeh.. that will have to wait till my next visit! (panoramic view)

the cold and foreboding Holyrood Palace (the Queen's abode).. the exterior looks like nothing much, but the interior rooms are so so grand!! it's extremely pretty and very beautifully decorated.. but no pictures allowed. i enjoyed this much more than Edinburgh Castle actually.

the night scene...

Winter Wonderland with the ice skating rink..

yup, and lastly, how can i forget the food? haha
here's the re-knowned
HAGGIS!!! (HAGGIS is a traditional Scottish cuisine, made up of sheep's
heart, liver and lungs, minced with onions, oatmeal and spices, and boiled in the animal's
stomach for 3 hrs!!!) it sounds reli gross i noe. but if u juz eat it without thinking abt wat u're actually eating, the thing simply tastes heavenly =) i could eat it everyday!! (and i dun even like meat)
the expensive (and super delicious) version from restaurant.. served with potatoes & radish.

the cheaper and passable version from a cafe.. - the brown mash resembles dog food eh.

Cullen SKink soup.. it. is. so. darn. good. smoked haddock cream soup i think.

my birthday cake from the stevenage gang.. cherry and butter loaf cake

a THICK and super expensive block of belgian choc fudge. it's supposedly very famous. this thing costs 5 pounds! splitted it with kevin. it's tooth-achingly sweet.. my brighton fudge tastes better =)

yup.. tt about sums up the Edinburgh trip.. will be back for the Scottish Highlands tour when it's not so cold.
to my dearest family: thanks heaps for the lovely bday card!! it made me feel so homesick.. *luaffs*
thanks Vince & my lovely housemates as well for the card, choc & cake that I
still can't eat coz I'm sick. what a great time to fall ill eh. love you guys =)
caught a very nasty cold and had to call in sick. i got to stay home today! eating and sleeping in bed the entire day is a fabulous way of recuperating =) still coughing like mad though. staying home another day sounds so so tempting.
