design grp outing!

met up with the design proj grp gals today for our post-exam cum post-design proj celebration!! after our initial feasting venues were all overthrown due to lack of vacancies.. we finally settled on The Dining Room at Sheraton Towers.

the place was.. hmmm.. scenic.. and close to nature?? haha. pretty waterfall!! we kept expecting some monkey or polar bear to emerge from behind the overgrowth.. =P

the sashimi and cold dishes were GREAT!! never eaten so much jellyfish, snow fish and octopus in my entire life..

there was an assortment of cheese with crackers as well. i'm not a smelly-cheese person but the cheese there was reli awesome.. brie, cheddar, and walnut cheese!

then there were the desserts.. they had pretty lil yummilicious macarons as well (so pretty unlike the ones tt i made =P)oh well.. if everyone cld make them as prettily.. then they wont cost an exorbitant price of $1.50 per pc rite..

went ktv after that.. it was fun and crazy =) overall a reli enjoyable day! glad to be grouped with these gals..though there were moments whereby we wanted to strangle each other over stupid HYSYS simulations.. still reli contented tt we survived it all =) *toast to our completed but most prob dysfunctional MTBE plant!!*

here's an update... it's currently squashed by my room's door.. between the hinges. i.e. it'll forever be missing in action from now onwards. no more hide-and-seeks!

yeah! this is the first nite i haf absolutely nothing to do.. NOTHING! no more exams.. no more design proj.. no more fyp poster or report! yippee!! =)

finally handed in our design proj and my fyp report today.. after slogging for hrs.. all our hardwork!! and u noe wat.. i seriously think the profs wont even read it.. as in yeh.. they'll pick up our super thick report with a deep frown and attempt to flip thru a few pages.. and then maybe tt's abt it.. i mean.. they haf like ard 30 groups worth of THICK 200++ pages of reports to read! who're u kidding.. seriously.. who will read and scrutinize thru every page?? so why do we even bother in the first place.. anyways, busted the whole of my sunday yest formatting the reports.. 11hrs worth of formatting is no joke.. no wonder my dark eye rings juz keep getting darker.. and my already small eyes getting smaller =(

and tada! here it is! guess which is the fyp and which is the design?

the irony of it all.. my fyp (worth 10AUs) looks so puny next to the 350page thick pile of design crap next to it.. and design's only 4AUs mind u. the sch is mad. u slog like shit to produce reports as thick as the Yellow Pages??!! and it's only 4AUs!! i feel so short-changed. wat a waste of time, effort, and paper! maybe the "go green" effort shld seriously contemplate doing away with endless reports..

moved out of hall today. wat a chore!! i moved everything by myself k. not that i haf tt many things tt i need to force someone to help me with it.. but seriously.. climbing up and down SEVEN storeys 4 times with big heavy bulky objects in tow is no easy feat. was completely drenched in perspiration after it all.. it's so so much worse than running 10km! and now my arms feel like jelly. oh yay. (at least now i noe there won't ever be an eeky stuffy hall with tonnes of lizards and insects for me to move into! ever.)

so its end of ntu. end of sch life for me. for now at least. everybody's congratualating me for completing the very last of my last exam.. i'm glad tt they're happy for me of coz. but i seriously dun share their joy. so now it's on to the next phase of life.. i'm sure tt there're much more horrid and tougher things to face out there then sitting for exams...

i dread it most whenever someone asks, "so how's ur job search coming along?"

yeh i noe they asked it out of gd will.. but frankly speaking, everytime i hear tt qn coming out from someone's mouth.. i wanna pick up my shoe and fling it at them. juz so damn sick of hearing it.

and then i'll tell them.. havent reli found any tt i'm reli interested in doing..
i mean.. i'm not even sure wat i want to do! being stranded with distillation columns and weird smelling chemicals for the rest of my life on jurong island certainly dun sound appealing.

to which they'll give me the very horrified look.. "but u're studying chemical engineering! if u dun want to be a chem engineer.. why are u studying it!"

someone pls tell these ignorant ppl tt not EVERYONE are lucky enough to study wat they reli want to study.. and get a job tt they reli wanna stick with for the rest of their lives. talking to such airheads juz pain me.

so sick of flipping thru Straits Times recruit every sat morning, squinting hard at all the puny lil job adverts.. then deciding that there's nothing tt catches my interest (or i'm qualified enough for). sick of wtg for calls. i dun even expect them anymore.

yeh i noe. so u think i'm juz being picky. but why study so hard ALL ur life.. get above average grades.. then end up with a job tt u totally have no interest in??

feels as if i have been duped for so long.. used to believe tt if i mugged hard enough and got all the As tt everyone's fighting so damn hard for.. then i'll be able to get into med sch and be a doctor, a veterinarian.. a marine biologist.. anyone in fact.. anyone but an engineer.

"tell me wat motivates u to be a chemical engineer.. why do u want this job?"

"oh.. i love working with my hands.. building things..troubleshooting.. analyzing problems.. it gives me personal satisfaction.."

liar. who am i trying to kid?? i cant even convince myself.. how do i expect them to be convinced..

today's a happy happy day =)
exam's are over. my fyp poster is done! design proj.. sigh.. tmr will be dedicated to the compilation of it. so much shit work =P
haoz and i went katong to feast! had dinner at The Coffeeshop Showcase at eastcoast rd.. its a small lil cozy cafe tt sells western/fusion food for cheapo/broke ppl like us.

it's a combination of my favourites! lian rong + red bean paste + salted egg yolk all in one BIG pau! so so yummilicious =)if only this place isnt so accessible.. i'll eat it as regularly as my min chiang kuey! (i eat my MCK like 4 times a wk). maybe someday i'll die of red bean overdose. =P

mtg gwen to do design proj compilation tmr. damn sian la. tmr's a SUNDAY leh. sundays are meant for sleeping late and nua-ing the day away like a fat pig.. rolling ard in bed or on the couch in front of the tv for tt matter. NOT for projs. sigh. so looking forward to it. yay.

been preoccupied with feasting lately =)

finally went haji lane for dinner and watch ppl smoke shisha. quite a nice and laid back place reli.. refreshing change from the crowded shopping complexes.. singapore shld reli preserve more of such places!! else we'll juz be a boring culture-less city in no time.. i mean..look at chinatown! so commercialized..

had dinner at Altazzag Egyptian Restaurant..
change of dining style! cushions and carpet in place of chairs.. tt place had an authentic feel to it as well.. old shop house with creaky floor boards and nice balcony..

all the dips served with pita.. i love them all! but it's an acquired taste la..

its reli dark..coz the food came painfully slowly tt by the time it was served.. it was night fall already.. anyway..this is fish kebab.. its reli reli good!! =)



had ice cream at tom's palette after that.. i shall declare it the best ice cream in singapore!! rich and creamy. heh.. they haf lotsa unique flavours as well.. it's that kind tt makes u crave for more..

and yeh.. i haf been dreaming and craving for my swiss roll from rich and gd cake shop for eons! and haoz surprised me with them today!!
